Branch Pastor — Kiminini
Pastor
Pastor Peter Wafula
“We are not building an institution; we are igniting a movement. Every soul saved in Kiminini is a ripple that will spread through Trans-Nzoia and beyond.”
Pastor Peter Wafula was born on June 20, 1990, in Kiminini, Trans-Nzoia County. The son of a smallholder farmer, Peter grew up with a strong work ethic and a love for his community. His family attended a local church regularly, and Peter was baptised as a young child.
Peter's faith became personal and vibrant during his secondary school years, when he joined the Students' Christian Organisation of Kenya (SCOCK) at his school and encountered a community of young believers who were seriously engaged with both Scripture and life. He became the school's SCOCK chairman in his final year.
He pursued a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, graduating in 2013. His technical background gave him a particular interest in using technology as a tool for ministry and communication — an interest that would later benefit MCC Kiminini significantly.
After graduation, Peter worked as an IT consultant in Eldoret while serving at MCC Eldoret, which was in its early stages of planting. He became the church's media and technology coordinator, building its digital presence and setting up its livestreaming capacity.
His gifts in technology, communications, and leadership were matched by a growing pastoral calling that he could not ignore. In 2018, he enrolled in a part-time ministry training programme at Daystar University's Eldoret campus, completing a Diploma in Christian Ministry.
In 2021, when Bishop Oboka cast a vision for a new church plant in Trans-Nzoia County, Peter felt an unmistakable call to lead it. Despite being one of the youngest pastors in the MCC network, his proven character, spiritual depth, and practical competencies made him the clear candidate for this pioneering assignment.
Pastor Peter launched MCC Kiminini in early 2021 with a core team of twelve people who had caught his vision. Within two years, the congregation had grown to over 120 members, making it one of the fastest-growing MCC branch plants.
His use of technology and social media has given MCC Kiminini a visibility and reach that exceeds many older, larger churches in the area. The church's weekly podcast, active social media presence, and professional livestreaming have attracted many younger believers who appreciate a church that communicates in the language of their generation.
Beyond technology, Pastor Peter is deeply committed to personal discipleship and has built a culture at MCC Kiminini where every member is expected to be discipling someone else. He is developing a network of home fellowships in every major neighbourhood and village around Kiminini, with the goal of becoming a church that transforms the entire county.
Pastor Peter is married to Faith Nafula Wafula, a nurse and a key leader in MCC Kiminini's health and community outreach. They have one son, Elisha, and are expecting their second child. They reside in Kiminini Township.
