Branch Pastor — Oyugis

Pastor
Pastor Tobias Gor
“The greatest miracle is not the healing of a body — it is the transformation of a human soul. And we witness that miracle in this congregation every single week.”
Pastor Tobias Gor was born on January 30, 1980, in Oyugis Town, Homa Bay County. She was the firstborn in a family of five, and this position instilled in her a sense of responsibility and a natural instinct for caring for those around her.
Grace encountered Christ at the age of nineteen during a women's conference organised by a local church. The message she heard that day about being created with purpose and dignity was, in her own words, 'the first time I truly believed I mattered to God.' She was baptised shortly after and became an active member of her local church.
She studied Social Work at the Kenya Institute of Social Work and Community Development in Kisumu, graduating with a Diploma in 2003. Her training in social work gave her a practical framework for understanding the needs of vulnerable communities, which would later become a hallmark of her ministry approach.
After graduation, Grace worked as a social worker with an NGO that focused on community health and education in Homa Bay County. This work deepened her understanding of the challenges facing communities in the Lake Victoria region and further fuelled her passion for holistic ministry.
In 2010, she connected with MCC through a regional outreach event and felt a profound sense of alignment with the church's vision. She spent two years serving at MCC Kisii Main under Pastor John Omondi, learning the rhythms of church leadership and developing her gifts in teaching, counselling, and pastoral care.
In 2014, Bishop Oboka commissioned her to pioneer MCC Oyugis Branch in her home county. She returned to Oyugis with a vision for a church that would not only preach the gospel but engage holistically with the community's social, educational, and health needs.
MCC Oyugis has become known throughout Homa Bay County for its holistic approach to ministry. Under Pastor Grace's leadership, the church has partnered with local schools to support needy students, established a health outreach programme that conducts free medical camps twice a year, and developed a women's empowerment initiative that trains women in business and financial literacy.
Pastor Grace's leadership brings together a deep theological conviction and a practical social conscience. She believes the church exists not just to prepare people for heaven but to bring the values of heaven into every corner of daily life on earth. This conviction has shaped every programme and initiative at MCC Oyugis.
She is a valued member of the MCC Apostolic Council and also serves on the board of a county-level women's advocacy network. Her work has been recognised by local civic leaders as a model of faith-based community development.
Pastor Tobias is married to Mrs. Ogweno, a secondary school principal. They have three children and are actively involved in the church together. The family resides in Oyugis Town.
