Branch Pastor — Kombaka
Pastor
Pastor Jared Adams
“Hope is not wishful thinking — it is a confident expectation based on the character of God. My job as a pastor is to anchor this community in that hope, especially when life is its hardest.”
Pastor Samuel Nyambok was born on February 8, 1987, in the Kombaka area of Kisii County. He grew up in modest circumstances, the third of seven children. His father struggled with alcohol dependency for much of Samuel's childhood, which created an environment of instability that left deep marks on the family.
At the age of fifteen, a neighbour invited Samuel to a youth revival meeting at a local church. The message of hope, transformation, and a God who sees and cares changed the direction of his life. He gave his life to Christ that night, and within weeks, the change in him was so visible that several family members also came to faith.
Samuel's personal story of transformation from brokenness to wholeness would become the defining narrative of his ministry — a living testimony that God specialises in turning broken things into beautiful ones. He pursued a Certificate in Business Administration at Kisii Technical College before beginning his ministry journey.
Samuel joined MCC Kisii in 2009 and quickly became one of the most impactful voices in the church's youth ministry. His ability to connect with young people from difficult backgrounds — drawing on his own story — made him exceptionally effective. He led the church's street outreach team and was instrumental in bringing many young people from the margins of society into the community of faith.
He completed a Diploma in Theology at the East African School of Theology in 2015, and was invited to join the pastoral staff at MCC Kisii as a youth pastor. Under his leadership, the youth ministry grew from 60 to over 200 young people in three years.
In 2018, Bishop Oboka invited Samuel to pioneer the MCC Kombaka church plant. Though it was a significant step, Samuel felt the clear hand of God in the commission and accepted with faith and humility. He moved his young family to Kombaka and began the work of building a congregation from the ground up.
Pastor Samuel has built MCC Kombaka into a vibrant, hope-centred congregation with over 150 active members. The church is known for its exceptionally welcoming atmosphere and its culture of celebrating personal transformation stories. A regular feature of MCC Kombaka services is the 'Testimony Saturday' — a monthly celebration where members share how God has worked in their lives.
He has championed a recovery and rehabilitation ministry at MCC Kombaka, recognising the significant need in the community for support around substance dependency, family breakdown, and poverty. This ministry has become a significant gateway for people on the margins of society to encounter God's transforming grace.
Pastor Samuel represents a new generation of MCC leadership — young, energetic, and deeply committed to contextual ministry that meets people where they are. He serves on the MCC Youth and Outreach Committee and is actively developing the next generation of leaders within his congregation.
Pastor Samuel is married to Priscilla Nyambok, the worship leader at MCC Kombaka. They have two young children, Elijah and Hannah. Their family story of faith and restoration is one of the church's most powerful testimonies.
